The legendary figure of the kaiju sofubi world, Kazumitsu Akamatsu, is unleashing his solo exhibition “Kaiju Lab Exhibition – Kazumitsu Akamatsu ‘DESTROY ALL MONSTERS 14: Kaiju Total Attack’” at SOMSOC GALLERY in Harajuku, Tokyo, from Saturday, August 9, 2025!

Over 150 Sofubi Kaiju Invade Harajuku!
The kaiju sofubi legend Kazumitsu Akamatsu is staging a monster-packed solo art show—“Kaiju Lab Exhibition – Kazumitsu Akamatsu ‘DESTROY ALL MONSTERS 14: Kaiju Total Attack’”—running from August 9 (Sat) to August 31 (Sun) at Harajuku’s SOMSOC GALLERY.
On display: over 150 sofubi kaiju in total. Center stage is his iconic SKULL HEAD BUTT series, radiating a presence that’s both art and pure pop culture. The lineup also includes collaboration works, rare sketches, interviews, and more—a truly massive showcase worthy of the “Total Attack” name.
The opening day will see kaiju pro wrestlers storm the gallery, a two-day limited sofubi sales event, and exclusive merch drops. Whether you’re into sofubi, art, or tokusatsu, this is designed to hit you right in the fandom.
This is nothing less than the final showdown between kaiju and humankind.
Kaiju Pro Wrestling Invasion & DJ Party on Opening Night!
The opening day, Saturday, August 9, 2025, is loaded with events.
At around 6:30 PM, members of “Kaiju Pro Wrestling” will “invade” SOMSOC GALLERY. You’ll also see the actual “shells” of pro-wrestling kaiju designed by Akamatsu himself, instantly transforming the gallery into a kaiju war zone.
Then from 7:00 PM, the opening party “The Kaiju Are Closing In” kicks off. Taking the stage: sofubi kaiju master Kazumitsu Akamatsu and Ichiro Yaguchi, the representative of Kaiju Pro Wrestling, who’s also a pro wrestler and musician. Expect talk sessions, music, kaiju—this will be an all-genre cultural collision.
Spinning tracks will be Miles Woodroffe (mileZ), a London-born, Tokyo-based artist rocking parties across Japan and abroad. He’ll crank up the energy for the kaiju show’s first night.
It’s one night only—chaotic, fun, and totally kaiju. Free admission (one-drink order required), so just drop in and join the madness.
What Is Kaiju Pro Wrestling?
A full-contact pro wrestling event where real wrestlers face off against “otherworldly” characters like kaiju, monsters, and even cryptids (UMA).
It’s not just matches—there’s live music from professional musicians, plus stage events featuring actors from classic tokusatsu productions. The result? A high-energy, multi-sensory entertainment show that blends the raw impact of combat sports with sound, light, and performance art.

What Is SOMSOC GALLERY? – Harajuku’s “Inner Cosmos” Outpost
This kaiju-soaked exhibition takes place in Harajuku’s SOMSOC GALLERY, an art space that suddenly appeared in 2022 and has since hosted artists from across genres and borders, launching one-of-a-kind expressions into the world.
The name “SOMSOC” is “COSMOS” reversed—meaning “inner cosmos.” The gallery serves as a wormhole, pulling the inner creativity, impulses, and energy of artists into our physical reality.

The venue will offer a variety of original goods tied to the exhibition.
Alongside T-shirts and caps, you’ll find acrylic keychains featuring Akamatsu’s kaiju in adorable chibi form. More goods will be announced, so keep an eye on the official Instagram.
