The main PV for Season 2 of the hit anime Kaiju No. 8 has just dropped, titled “A New Threat”.
Broadcast kicks off on Saturday, July 19, 2025, airing every Saturday at 11:00 PM JST across Japan and streaming worldwide.
With higher stakes and even more intensity, Season 2 brings in a game-changing new character: Gen Narumi.
Meanwhile, lurking in the shadows is the most dangerous threat yet—Kaiju No. 9.

Norwegian pop artist AURORA lends her ethereal voice to the Season 2 opening theme,
"You Can’t Run From Yourself."
She shared her thoughts:
“I’ve always loved anime, and that will never change. I’m truly honored to create this song for Kaiju No. 8.”
Her blend of fragility and power adds a whole new layer to the fierce clash between humanity and the kaiju.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Story
Following a decision by the Defense Force commander Isao Shinomiya, Kafka Hibino avoids weaponization—
but remains under detainment. As new recruits from the 3rd Division are dispatched to their posts,
a new figure appears before Kafka: Gen Narumi, leader of the elite 1st Division and the strongest man in the force.
Narumi refuses to acknowledge Kafka as a fellow soldier. To prove his worth,
Kafka must confront the immense power of Kaiju No. 8 within him.
But while Kafka fights to earn his place, an even greater threat looms: Kaiju No. 9.
Inherited wills, new Numbers Weapon users, and the largest crisis the Defense Force has ever faced—all collide in Season 2.

The First Division is finally in action.
As someone who's been following the manga closely, I can't wait to see how that scene is animated on screen.
And just a side note—I’ve always been Team Soushirou Hoshina,
so I was shocked (in a good way) to learn his voice actor is Koki Uchiyama,
the same one who played Shigaraki in My Hero Academia.
Hearing that voice come from Gen Narumi? Yeah, no doubt—he’s the strongest man in the Defense Force.
